Target
The prize aims to promote scientific knowledge on driver assistance systems (DAS), as well as their implementation and incorporation in to social awareness. Scientific contributions can come from the entire spectrum of DAS, with interdisciplinary work taking priority.
Who is eligible?
The prize for scientific work is awarded to those who present outstanding dissertations in the field of DAS. Additionally, special cases could also be awarded by DAS, for example where extraordinary implementation or distribution (ex. in the media) has been performed.
Who can apply?
All relevant dissertations/dissertation authors are eligible for this award. Work can be written in German or English and submitted up to two years after graduation from a German university. Other prizes may be awarded by nomination by a Uni-DAS member or non-member.
Application process
To submit the following documents are required:
- Letter of reference from supervisor
- Curriculum vitae
- Abstract of the dissertation
- Dissertation
- List of publications
- Minimum 1 and maximum 3 relevant publications
- Electronic submission form until the 15th of December, 2013
Selection
Selection will be made by an expert committee based on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Importance of work for DAS
- Presentation and overall impression of the work
The decision is final in the selection
Type and amount of the prize, award ceremonies, appointments
Frequency: The award is presented every 1.5 years.
Prize money: 1000 - €
The award ceremony will take place at DAS workshops.
Awardee 2012

The Uni-DAS-Research Award for outstanding doctoral dissertations was awarded Dr. Markus Enzweiler for his 2011 dissertation presented at the University of Heidelberg. His thesis was on “Compound Models for Vision-Based Pedestrian Recognition”.
